PTF 20E: Tablet Friability Test Instrument

The PTF 20E is a dual-drum tablet friability test instrument, designed to comply with USP <1216>, EP <2.9.7>, and other pharmacopoeia standards. It is equipped with two drums and operates at a fixed speed.

Key Features:

  • Dual Drum System: Comes with two drums for simultaneous testing.
  • Fixed Speed Operation: Runs at a fixed speed of 25 rpm.
  • 10° Feature: Allows testing of larger or irregularly shaped tablets by adjusting the instrument to a 10° angle using collapsible feet.
  • Optional Abrasion Drums: Includes standard friability drums, with optional abrasion drums available for additional stress testing.

Operation:

  • Test Procedure: Samples are cleaned, weighed, and introduced into the drums. After programming the test parameters, the instrument runs the test. Post-test, samples are de-dusted, reweighed, and the weight loss is calculated to determine friability. The maximum allowable mean weight loss from three tests should not exceed 1%.

Advantages:

  • LED Display: Provides clear information on rotation speed and operating time.
  • GLP Compliant: Features a stainless steel housing that meets Good Laboratory Practice (GLP) requirements.
  • Dual Operation Modes: Adjustable for number of revolutions or rotation time.
  • Easy Operation: Simple setup and operation with functional keys.

Technical Specifications:

  • Drum Rotation Speed: Fixed at 25 rpm (±1 rpm accuracy).
  • Data Entry: Functional keys for setting revolutions (1 to 9999) or timer (1 to 9999 seconds).
  • Bench Space: Requires approximately 350 mm x 400 mm.

Included in the Standard Scope of Supply:

  • Two friability drums compliant with USP <1216> and EP <2.9.7>.
  • Comprehensive documentation including user manual, compliance certificates, and validation documents.

The PTF 20E is ideal for laboratories requiring efficient and compliant testing with the capacity to handle multiple samples simultaneously.
